Getting Started

MD Field Mapper Pro is a LiDAR-based sweep mapping application designed for metal detector users who want to record coil motion, relative coil height, and detector audio for later analysis.

Supported Devices

• iPhone Pro models with LiDAR only (iPhone 12 Pro or newer)
• iPad is intentionally not supported
• Unsupported Device screen appears if LiDAR is unavailable

Phone Mounting (Critical)

The app assumes the iPhone camera center represents the physical coil position. Improper mounting will distort all results.

• Phone must be rigidly fixed to the detector shaft
• No wobble, flex, rotation, or slippage allowed
• Handheld or loose mounts are not acceptable
• Camera crosshair should align with the projected coil center
• Camera pointing direction must match coil direction

Detector Audio Setup

• Wired TRRS audio cable only
• Bluetooth or wireless audio is not supported
• Detector audio out → TRRS cable → iPhone

Required iPhone Settings

• Microphone: Allow
• Location: Allow While Using App
• Headphone recognition: Enabled
• Mic mode: Standard (no Voice Isolation)

Once mounting and setup are complete, proceed to data collection.
