Map your sweeps in real-time with iPhone LiDAR + detector signals
MD Field Mapper Pro fuses LiDAR with your coil path to create accurate, QC-ready field maps. Track sweep direction, coil height, and ground elevation; align to True North; and export SQL and PLY files for post-processing.

Why MD Field Mapper Pro
True coil-path mapping
We record the coil’s centerline at 10/20/40 Hz and segment sweeps by motion direction, keeping your left-to-right / right-to-left passes clean.
LiDAR overlay (in testing)
LiDAR overlay is under active testing; goal is 2.5–5 cm gridding with buffered sampling. Current builds emphasize stable coil/path mapping while LiDAR validation continues.
QC-ready exports
Export sweep segments to on-device SQL and ASCII PLY. Timestamp synchronization supports later attitude corrections.
Align to North
Yaw-adjusted X,Y coordinates line up to North with a rotating arrow overlay and fixed scale bar for field navigation.
Low-latency visuals
AR-free camera mode available. Planned: fading LiDAR overlay for coverage memory — not yet implemented; we’re evaluating ARView-free approaches to lower resource usage.
Detector-agnostic (audio input)
Works today with any detector that can output audio. XP Go Terrain “Auto” style integration is not yet implemented.
How to use the app
Start simple. These quick guides walk you from setup → collecting data → exporting → post-processing.
Getting Started
Device requirements, rigid mounting rules, wired TRRS audio setup, and iPhone permissions.
Collecting Data
Field workflow from Home/Acquisition: Align to North, overlays, Start/Stop, and control points.
Exporting Data
Use the gear icon to export a single bundle, save to Files, and AirDrop to your Mac for QC.
What to do with the data
Understand the export bundle (SQLite/CSV/PLY) and how to use it for alignment and analysis.
Requirements
Supported iPhone models, permissions, and hardware expectations.
About
Background, roadmap, and the problem MD Field Mapper Pro is solving.
How it works
A technical overview: coil-path geometry, mounting assumptions, control points, and why alignment is post-processed.
FAQ
Fast answers on supported devices, mounting, audio, sampling rates, exports, TestFlight, and limitations.

Is this for me?
Quick fit check: who this is built for, who it isn’t, and what to expect today.
What you can export
SQL bundle
Per-sample records for sweep mapping in local LiDAR coordinates. Includes X/Y sweep path, relative coil height, detector audio metrics, timestamps, and attitude (yaw/pitch/roll) with sweep segmentation. Sweep sampling rate is selectable (10, 20, or 40 Hz).
PLY segments
LiDAR point clouds written as time-segmented pc_seg_YYYYMMDD_HHMMSS.ply files for fast QC and meshing. LiDAR capture rate is adjustable via a slider (about 1–30 Hz), depending on device performance.
Session archive
Everything saved under a single export root (/DB/LiDAR/…) for easy copying, archiving, and desktop analysis.
